Material culture heritage
The aspects of the material culture are well represented in the territory of the Susa Valley by a network of ethnographic museums and ecomuseums with their thematic area. They showcase, the cyclical nature of everyday life in the villages of the Valley. Their story is witnessed not only by the tools of the everyday life, but also by the mountain cottages themselves with their distinctive architecture, fountains, sundials and the places everyday life of local people.
Traditions
The inhabitants of the Susa Valley have been able to preserve ancient traditions: the festivities, carnivals historians, the rituals related to the summer solstice represent the survival of distant cults. The "Sword Dance" and "Spadonari" of Giaglione, San Giorio and Venaus, the Puento of Chiomonte, the Branc of Meana, the Bran of Giaglione are ancient pagan rituals associated with the rebirth of spring, symbolic expression of the fertility of the earth.
